Project: MBR Sludge Tanks

Project Overview:  Fabricate and install two new stainless steel 316L sludge collection tanks for MBR 1 & 2 and to convert the existing Exhaust Gas Eco. wash tank into a Sludge collection tank for the collection of MBR 3 sludge.

Project Length: 4 months

Project Location: Sailing project onboard a cruise ship

Project Highlights:

MBR Sludge Tank 1

The new Stainless Steel Sludge collection tank shall be fabricated onboard and installed on deck 1 portside between frames 252 – 256 underneath the membrane  bioreactor tank No.1 located on deck 2.

  • New stainless steel 316L pipework and fittings shall connect to the existing desludge line running from the existing desludge pump on deck 2.
  • This pipework shall connect to the newly fabricated stainless steel sludge collection tank.
  • The new sludge collection tank shall consist of the below:-
  1. Screwed Union Sight Glass, 316L SS Base / 304 SS Nut – Viewing Diameter 150mm with wiper and light.
  2. Sounding line connection.
  3. Manhole access.
  4. Gooseneck vent.
  5. Low level Molbrey Float Switch
  6. High level Molbrey Float Switch
  • The discharge shall run from the tank to the B50 X 50HC Sewage discharge pump.
  • It shall then run and connected back into the common overboard discharge line.

MBR Sludge Tank 2

MBR Sludge Tank 3

For the collection of the sludge from MBR 3 the redundant exhaust gas eco. wash tank shall be utalised.

  • New stainless steel pipework shall branch off the existing common overboard line before the existing automatic valve near frame 96
  • The new pipework shall connect into the existing exhaust gas eco. wash tank
  • A new screwed Union Sight Glass, 316L SS Base / 304 SS Nut – Viewing Diameter 150mm with wiper and light shall be installed to the tank
  • New Low level Molbrey and High level float switches shall be added to the tank
  • The pipework shall then run to a new B50 X 50HC Sewage discharge pump and then run back to the common overboard discharge line after the existing automatic valve.
